Air China Service Standard on the Onboard Use of Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POCs)

In practice, medical oxygen is stored in pressure cylinders which are deemed dangerous articles in the air transportation industry. The Civil Aviation Administration of China forbids air passengers from carrying or using any equipment storing, generating or distributing oxygen on the plane.

Portable oxygen concentrators (POCs) do not actually contain or generate oxygen – built-in molecular sieves concentrate it from the ambient air. With no pressure components, POCs have been approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the USA. Air China only accepts the onboard use of FAA-approved POCs. To use a POC on the plane, you need to contact an Air China office at least 48 hours before the scheduled departure time. You should fill in an application form and present a medical document issued by a doctor in recent 10 days proving your physical fitness for air travel and need for the continuous POC use during the flight.

For the full list of Air China offices, please visit : (Home > Contact us > Worldwide offices).
