Passengers who want compensation for damaged baggage shall make the claim for compensation in writing to Air China within 7 days from the day of receipt of the checked baggage.
Passengers who want compensation for delayed baggage shall make the claim for compensation in writing to Air China within 21 days from the day of receipt of the checked baggage.
For flights that meet the conditions set forth in the “Warsaw Convention”, the compensation limit per kilogram for your baggage is 17 SDR*. If the actual loss of your baggage is below this standard, compensation will be based on the actual loss of your baggage. The compensation limit for your unchecked baggage is 332 SDR *.
For flights that meet the conditions set forth in the “Montreal Convention”,. compensation will be based on the actual loss of your baggage. If you can provide adequate proof, the compensation limit for checked and unchecked baggage per passenger is 1288 SDR*.
The compensation should be handled according to the provisions of baggage on air baggage, details can be consulting 95583.
If your baggage is insured, we can provide the relevant documents to you so that you can bring a claim for damages against your insurer.
*SDR refers the special drawing right stipulated by International Monetary Fund (IMF). the value of SDR in the www.imf.org .
Due to its limitations, the baggage tracing system can only recognize English letters. So, if your baggage delivery address changes, please revise your address in English. You can also call Air China’s baggage tracing unit about the change.

If your missing personal property can not be located within 72 hours, please download and complete the “Missing Property Questionnaire” and send it back to us through postal mail or fax. Please check with our Lost & Found Office which you have reported your loss to for our postal mail address and fax number. The questionnaire will help us find your missing property. Please provide a detailed list of the contents of your baggage. If a number of pieces of your baggage are missing, please provide a separate list of the contents of each piece of baggage. Thank you!
To offer more convenience and comfort to passengers, Air China Limited has launched baggage through check-in service from international cities to domestic cities (I-D) via Beijing. To enjoy the full benefits of this service, eligible passengers are advised to be aware of the following:
I. It is your sole responsibility to ensure your checked baggage contains no item that requires Customs and Quarantine declaration.
II. Your baggage might be opened for inspection in Beijing. If you choose this service, you should sign and tick the declaration on baggage tags during check-in to entrust Air China staff to assist Beijing Customs in opening your baggage for inspection when required.
